The legacy snipping tool was removed with this build. Windows 11 insider build 22000.132, released on August 12, 2021, introduced an update to Snip & Sketch that renames it to Snipping Tool and ports it to WinUI 3.0 and brings an interface closer to the legacy Snipping Tool. In April 2021, Microsoft released Windows 10 Insider build 21354, which made the Snipping Tool updateable from the Microsoft Store by being packaged with Snip & Sketch. Despite this, the app was never removed from Windows 10. Snipping Tool was modified to contain a notice warning of the application's deprecation, which encouraged users to move to Snip & Sketch. It was first named Screen Sketch, and was initially a component of the Windows Ink Workspace. In Windows 10 version 1809, a new Universal app version of Snipping Tool known as Snip & Sketch was introduced. There is no installation required for Snippy, you just save the file and click on it to run. The free tool Snippy puts an icon of a pair of scissors in your task tray and when clicked on gives you a pencil cursor that you can use your mouse to trace around the area you want to clip and copy with a mouse click so you can paste it into any type of document. ![]() I've seen lots of questions about how to get this functionality under the regular XP version. It is a basic replacement for the Printscreen method of copying and pasting a screen which is not as granular and gives you a larger item when you paste it. Choose Snip & Sketch App to open its download page. Click the Search icon at the top-right corner and type snip & sketch to search for the app. Click OK, once installed snipping tool will show up in your accesories folder.) The snipping tool is preinstalled and under Accessories folder in Windows 7 start menu. Snip & Sketch Download for Windows 10/11: Open the Microsoft Store app or go to the Microsoft Store website.
